Ukrainian Army: We hit another Russian military airfield - 1

Ukraine claims to have hit a Russian military airfield

Ukrainian special forces hit a military airfield near the city of Borisoglebsk in Russia's Vorozhenka region today, striking a warehouse for glide bombs and a training aircraft, the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on social media, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

“The Defense Forces continue to take all measures to undermine the ability of the Russian occupiers to attack civilian infrastructure and force the Russian Federation to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine“, the AFU reported on the “Telegram“ application. The Ukrainian military said that most likely other enemy aircraft were hit, but did not provide further details. “This airfield is a base for enemy Su-34, Su-35S and Su-30SM“, they added.

Russian aviation has repeatedly attacked Kharkiv region from nearby Voronezh. The distance from Borisoglebsk to Kharkiv is about 500 kilometers as the crow flies. Borisoglebsk has often been the target of Ukrainian drone attacks.

According to Russian media, several Ukrainian drones were shot down in the area at night. Local residents heard explosions in the sky over villages and saw fireballs, the reports said.

Voronezh region governor Alexander Gusev reported material damage on “Telegram“, but added that there was no information about casualties and did not mention any damage to the airport. Overall, the threat of drone attacks continues, he added.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 94 Ukrainian drone attacks were repelled overnight, 34 of which were over the Voronezh region.

In addition, two Ukrainian drones were shot down on approach to the Moscow region this morning, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Meanwhile, nearly 50 flights were delayed at Pulkovo Airport in Russia's northwestern Leningrad region due to Ukrainian drone attacks, TASS reported. The airport's press service said it was in contact with passengers.
