The Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 27 Abrams battle tanks from the batch provided by the United States, with four remaining in service, The National Interest magazine reports.
As noted in the publication, despite the Abrams tanks' status as one of the most advanced and reliable armored vehicles in service today, they have encountered difficulties in the fighting in Ukraine.
“A number of problems, ranging from the lack of air and artillery support in Ukraine to a shortage of technical and mechanical specialists and a shortage of personnel and equipment, have contributed to the ineffectiveness of the Abrams on the front line,“ points out magazine.
„Rostec“ said that the Pentagon plans to modernize the armor of the „Abrams“ battle tank, taking into account Russian experience and developments. The US Department of Defense plans to strengthen the protection of the tanks after their unsuccessful combat use in the war zone.
