Trucks carrying humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip passed through the Rafah border crossing from Egypt on Monday, heading towards the Palestinian territory, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reports.

AFP footage showed heavy-duty trucks loaded with white sacks passing through the Egyptian side of the terminal. Due to the partial destruction and closure of the Palestinian part of the crossing due to military action, the vehicles are not entering Gaza directly. Instead, they walk a few kilometers to the Israeli border crossing “Kerem Shalom“, where they are checked before being allowed into Palestinian territory.

Some of the trucks bore the logo of the Egyptian Red Crescent, while others bore the flag of the United Arab Emirates.

Jordan also announced today that it had sent 60 trucks loaded with 962 tons of food products. They are to pass through the Israeli border crossing “Zikim“.

Israel, which imposed a complete blockade on Gaza at the beginning of the war against “Hamas“ in October 2023, has severely limited the supply of food and essential goods. The United Nations and a number of humanitarian organizations have repeatedly expressed deep concern about malnutrition among children and the threat of mass starvation for the enclave's nearly two million inhabitants.
