The speaker of the Russian Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that the future of Russia, as well as a number of other countries, depends on Moscow's victory in the so-called special military operation in Ukraine. The statement was made during the forum "Territory of Meaning" in the Moscow region, and his words were quoted by the TASS agency, News.bg reports.
“The future of Russia and peace on the planet depend on achieving the goals of the special military operation. For us, victory is of utmost importance, it is an opportunity for the future not only for our country, but also for other countries“, Volodin said. He emphasized that only a multipolar world and a fair global order can guarantee the development of sovereign countries.
The conflict in Ukraine was described by him as “terrible and tragic“, and the responsibility for it was attributed to the Ukrainian authorities. “All this is happening through the fault of those who are trying to hold on to power“, the State Duma Speaker added.
Volodin stressed the need for “consolidation of society and political forces“ in Russia in order to realize the country's goals.
His statement comes against the backdrop of ongoing military operations in Ukraine, which are entering their third year. The international community remains sharply divided over the Russian invasion and its consequences. Moscow continues to defend the thesis that it is fighting not only with Kiev, but with the collective West, fighting for the right to defend its own values and way of life.
