Pentagon criticizes The Washington Post for article about security of Hegseth and his family - 1

The US Department of Defense criticized The Washington Post for an article devoted to details about the security measures of Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth and members of his family.

„We asked The Washington Post to remove sensitive details about the security measures of Secretary Hegseth's wife, children and relatives, citing obvious security concerns and the potential for increased threats after publication. "There is no justification for the newspaper to publish such information about them," wrote US Department of Defense spokesman Kingsley Wilson in X.

Earlier, the publication reported, citing its sources, that Hegsett had hired an unusually large number of Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) officers to monitor his family residences in Minnesota and Tennessee, as well as in the District of Columbia, despite the security agency being understaffed.

According to The Washington Post , the Pentagon chief is forcing CID officers to provide security for his properties at the expense of their regular duties. At the same time, 400 or 500 people are now involved in providing security for the minister, his family and residences, instead of the 150 officers who were involved before.
