Japanese companies are increasingly using AI to find suppliers to reduce costs from US trade tariffs, NHK reported.

One of the developers of the relevant programs is Fujitsu. Its system collects large amounts of data on suppliers around the world, including information on tariff rates, counterparty reliability and other information.

Based on the analysis, AI recommends suppliers and shipping routes that will help ensure stable supplies with minimal tariff costs.

A similar service is provided by Toshiba. Its specialists have created a system that automatically displays the cost of purchasing a particular product using data on tariffs in different countries.

In July, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba announced that Tokyo and Washington had reached an agreement that would reduce US tariffs on Japanese goods from the previously announced 25% to 15%. In addition, US tariffs on Japanese cars, introduced in April, will be reduced to 15%. US President Donald Trump confirmed that the countries had reached a “large-scale deal”, in which Japan will invest $550 billion in the US economy.
