Poland publishes a survival guide in crisis situations  - 1

The Polish government published a survival guide in crisis situations on its website today, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

The “Safety Guide“, the printed version of which will be sent to every home in Poland this year, contains instructions on the actions to be taken in various dangers - “not only in the most difficult situations such as wartime, but also in hurricanes, natural disasters, floods and fires“, said Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Koszyniak-Kamiś.

The guide is about 50 pages long and has many illustrations, suitable even for children. It lists the contacts of the state emergency services and institutions responsible for security. In its main part, however, it provides instructions on how citizens, individually or in groups, can protect themselves, vulnerable people, children and even animals.

The guide shows how to prepare a home for prolonged power, gas and water outages. It also explains how to build up stocks of food, medicine, hygiene products and items that help with survival.

A separate chapter is dedicated to how citizens can prepare for a possible evacuation, as well as what equipment they need in such an event.

A separate overview is also made of actions in the event of air attacks, chemical, biological or nuclear threats, as well as terrorist threats, disinformation and cybersecurity.

Each household is invited to prepare its own individual plan for responding to crisis situations.

The authors of the manual state that they were inspired by similar initiatives in Scandinavian countries, as well as the war in Ukraine.

Poland, which is a loyal ally of Ukraine, has already made a number of offers for military training to its citizens. The Polish army offers various types of training in its units across the country, lasting from one day to one month, AFP notes.
