The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Ukraine on August 29. This is confirmed by the updated work program of the world organization body.
Earlier, a diplomatic source told TASS that the meeting was requested by Kiev. According to him, the agenda of the meeting was listed as “maintaining peace and security in Ukraine“.
As FAKTI already wrote, citing BTA, Russia yesterday launched a large-scale air attack on Kiev, which included unusual strikes on the center of the Ukrainian capital.
The attack killed at least 23 people, injured 48 and damaged the diplomatic mission of the European Union, local authorities reported.
The drone and missile attack was the first large-scale Russian attack on Kiev in weeks at a time when US efforts to end the three-year war are trying to gain momentum. Britain said the attack was sabotaging peace efforts, and the EU's top diplomat, Kaia Kallas, summoned the Russian ambassador to Brussels over the strikes that damaged the bloc's diplomatic mission in the Ukrainian capital.
