The Polish Foreign Ministry has urged its citizens to refrain from traveling to Belarus or to leave it by any means possible, Polish radio station RMF24 reported, citing ministry spokesman Pawel Wronski.
“The Foreign Ministry strongly recommends refraining from traveling to Belarus. Polish citizens may encounter events there that will not be beneficial to them,“ he said.
According to Wronski, in the event of a sharp deterioration in the security situation, border closures or other unforeseen circumstances, the evacuation of citizens could prove significantly more difficult or even impossible.
On Friday, the country's Prime Minister Donald Tusk told reporters that Poland would prepare “Action plan for the coming weeks“ regarding Belarus.
Earlier, Belarusian television reported that the country's State Security Committee in Lepel, Vitebsk region, detained a Polish citizen at the scene of the crime for espionage. Secret documents on the “West-2025” exercises were confiscated from him. Then, the press secretary of the minister coordinating the Polish intelligence services, Jacek Dobrzynski, made a statement that the detained Polish citizen had nothing to do with espionage activities, but was a monk.
