Unbridled European militarism is making it difficult to resolve the situation in Ukraine, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president.
“European countries are taking a rather unbridled position“, he noted. Peskov gave as an example the words of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, who called for Ukraine to be turned into a “steel hedgehog“.
“What is this? To use a cliché from the Cold War, this is unbridled European militarism“, he said. “And this position of the Europeans does not contribute, but on the contrary, complicates the settlement process.“
More and more countries understand Russia's position on Ukraine and the root causes of the special military operation, Peskov said.
“There was an understanding of the root causes in the world before. And, of course, all the efforts of the president to say and explain this to his interlocutors are bearing fruit. Indeed, there are more and more people who understand us“, Peskov said.
