The cases of COVID-19 in the fall and spring. This is what Prof. Todor Kantarjiev said on BNT, quoted by FOCUS.
"The coronavirus that is currently circulating in Bulgaria is a sub-variant of "Omicron". Cases are increasing because the immunity of our population is not sufficient to fight against it. We don't have a sharp increase, but it is circulating," the specialist specified.
"It is dangerous only for the very elderly, for those who are on chemotherapy and immunodeficiency and it is dangerous while a person is sick and has respiratory failure - he cannot breathe, his tonsils turn blue and medical help should be sought" ; said Prof. Kandarjiev and emphasized that the old tests more or less catch it.
"Many vaccinated people have an advantage because they have the so-called "immunological memory", because it is of great importance that a large part of Bulgarians have been in contact with covid and have been revaccinated,", added the specialist.
Professor Kantarjiev emphasized and drew attention to the fact that it is still too early for the flu. "Many viruses circulate, but within a week they pass - either you have a sore throat or a runny nose, you have a mild fever, but this is not the fall flu. The first cases of influenza are usually proven in November, then in December the epidemic spread becomes massive - schoolchildren and students start to get sick. When the Bulgarians come from Great Britain on airplanes, coughing at the airports - there is a lot of flu," he also said.
"If you are sick - stay at home, don't go haggling at pharmacies to give you various goodies for people, ventilate and keep the mask in your pocket,' Kantarjiev emphasized.
