The ruling party will propose a mechanism to regulate Christmas allowances through law. This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of GERB Denitsa Sacheva. According to her, the party has sent a letter to Social Minister Borislav Gutsanov, in which they have requested a legislative solution. The idea is that the allowance should reach the poorest as a new type of social assistance. However, this will happen within the next year.
Whether there will be Christmas allowances for this year is still being discussed and a political solution is being sought.
„We need to see what the NSSI's estimates are in this case. And it is yet to be discussed. But today I sent a letter to Minister Gutsanov, in which I requested a legislative solution for a permanent settlement of this issue, as a new type of social assistance for the most vulnerable. The point is for the poorest to have decent support. This issue must stop being another dividing line. It can't happen now, it can happen next year. The Christmas supplements are not planned, but that doesn't mean that a political solution won't be sought," Sacheva said.
