Atanas Atanasov, BSP: We will nominate Iliana Yotova for president

For us, Rumen Radev's appearance on the party field is the biggest challenge, as he has been nominated and elected twice by the Bulgarian Socialists

For the BSP to fall under a common denominator, talking about mafia and oligarchy, is cynical.

This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Atanas Atanasov, a BSP MP.

Neither the BSP ministers nor the BSP as a party have been involved in corruption schemes and scandals this year, he added about the party's participation in the resigned "Zhelyazkov" cabinet.

"For us, Rumen Radev's appearance on the party field is the biggest challenge, as he has been nominated and elected twice by the Bulgarian Socialists. In the elections, all parties are competitors, opponents," Atanasov pointed out.

We will nominate Iliana Yotova for president, the socialist announced about this year's upcoming vote for head of state.

"In less than a year, our president Iliana Yotova will need a strong BSP to nominate and elect her as president. We have a moral duty to her and a historical duty to Bulgarian society," he said.

The BSP made the right decision and statesmanlike position regarding its participation in the government, but when the majority began to change, it no longer had a place in this government, he expressed his opinion in the program "Predi visi".

In the BSP, the generational conflict is not on the agenda. The appropriate chairman must be found to guide it through this difficult period. There is no way Bulgaria will remain without a left-wing party in parliament, Atanasov stressed.

"I and a part of the group voted "against" these changes, others voted "for", he specified about the limitation of the number of polling stations abroad, adding that they have a decision of the parliamentary group that changes to the Electoral Code "cannot once again be made in 12 without 5".

"No last-minute change can inspire more confidence in the electoral process. The EC must be changed in a calm atmosphere, when there are no elections ahead."
