The inspections of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission of electricity suppliers due to high January bills of household consumers show that energy consumption has increased by over 30% compared to December.

More than 400 complaints were received last week by the commission, which are yet to be reviewed, BNT reported.

Since the beginning of the year, electricity consumption in our country has increased by almost 10%, according to data from the Electricity System Operator. At the same time, electricity production is decreasing by over 2%, which also affects the import-export balance.

The balance is negative, as in the first month of last year the country imported more electricity than it exported, and now it is the opposite - we import more than we export.

Electricity production from baseload power plants has decreased by over 12%, and from renewable sources connected to the distribution network by 9%. However, electricity production from hydroelectric power plants has more than doubled and from large green sources by over 13%.
