In an interview with NOVA, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic Ali Reza Irvas commented on the nuclear program, the role of the US and security in the Middle East region, emphasizing: “We seek and want peace, but our country and the people of Iran would not surrender to demands that are not fair” .

The ambassador expressed condolences to the families of the 168 children who died at the beginning of the war. He defined the Bulgarian people as “wise, honorable, intelligent and responsible” and called them a friend of Iran.

Ali Reza Irvas drew a historical parallel with past conflicts, stating that the US uses various pretexts to start wars – weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, a nuclear program in Libya or drug trafficking in Venezuela, but in reality the goal is “occupying their oil resources”. Regarding the current situation, he stressed that since 2012 Iran has been negotiating to explain that its nuclear program is peaceful. He recalled that in 2018 Donald Trump unilaterally terminated the nuclear agreement.

When asked about the presence of 460 kg of highly enriched uranium (60%), which could produce 16 warheads, Ambassador Irvash replied that “nuclear fuel is not the target of their attacks”. According to him, the war is currently being waged against hospitals, people and civilian infrastructure.

On the topic of internal stability in Iran and demands for regime change, the ambassador pointed out that statements by figures such as Shirin Ebadi are “personal opinions”. He stated that millions of Iranians are taking to the streets in support of the state. "Every country changes, people want reforms, but this people want this change to happen through their actions, not by inviting foreign powers," he said, adding that foreign powers only aim to "rob a country's resources."

Regarding security in the region and warnings to neighboring countries, the ambassador stressed that this war is not Romania's or Bulgaria's. However, he warned: "If a base is used to attack our territories, our people, shouldn't this base be a legitimate target of our responses?" He called on Romania and any other country not to become part of a war that is "the Americans and Israel against our people."

Asked about the possibility of the oil price reaching $200 per barrel, Irvas said that Europe must make efforts to stop the war. "Then the oil price will return to "normal levels," he said. According to him, the most important thing is to create a mechanism for "stable and long-lasting peace," but the world should be more sensitive to the actions of the United States and Israel, which are destroying billions of dollars worth of infrastructure.
