Optimization of public spending and a prepared package of legislative changes is the legacy that the caretaker cabinet leaves to the new rulers. This was announced by the caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov and once again noted that the recent elections were one of the best organized.

The elections on April 19 are the most honest and transparent in our recent history, the Prime Minister said. According to him, the caretaker government leaves a good legacy to the regular cabinet.

"We leave an example of how the state can work transparently and responsibly towards Bulgarian citizens. We have set a standard that we hope will be followed by the next government," said Gyurov.

The caretaker government has also prepared a package of legislative measures that have already been submitted to parliament.

"These are extremely important measures for Bulgaria and the state, the system of government, to work in the way that Bulgarian citizens expect. They will be handed over to the next government and we expect a decision on these extremely important laws in the coming weeks - the law on the judiciary and the new anti-corruption commission," the prime minister said.

He also commented on the state of the state budget. According to Gyurov, the caretaker government has taken active steps to optimize public spending.

"We have done a tremendous job in the last few weeks, both the European funds team of Deputy Prime Minister Nedina and the government as a whole, so that funds that were thrown away by the previous rulers can be saved," Gyurov added.

The caretaker prime minister also stated that the main task of the new parliament is to adopt a regular budget that will control the deficit.

Gyurov refused to comment on speculation about the possibility of running for president in the fall.

Earlier, however, in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio, he specified that such decisions are not made emotionally, but require time and reflection.
