The journey to Sofia is exactly seven and a half hours. There has been no express train for more than 20 years and if you have urgent work, the train is not your means of transportation

The leader of the political party "Vazrazhdane" Kostadin Kostadinov sharply criticized the state of the Bulgarian railways during his trip from Varna to the capital. Kostadinov himself shared this in a post on Facebook, where he describes the slow transport and neglected infrastructure on the eve of the first session of the new parliament.

According to Kostadin Kostadinov, the lack of express lines forces citizens to avoid rail transport. “The journey to Sofia is exactly seven and a half hours. There has been no express train for more than 20 years and if you have urgent work, the train is not your means of transportation“, Kostadinov stated. He notes that the train consists of only three carriages, which are half-empty, with about a dozen people waiting at the Varna station in the morning.

The politician expresses indignation at the appearance of the carriages, which, in his words, are covered with graffiti and obscene inscriptions. He compares them to “trash cans on wheels“. Kostadinov also pays special attention to the railway stations along the route, describing them as abandoned and crumbling.

“Bulgaria, seen from the train, looks like a set from a zombie apocalypse movie“, claims the leader of "Vazrazhdane", adding that the only positive experience during the trip is the view of the Bulgarian nature.

In addition to criticism of the infrastructure and the lack of stable mobile coverage along the route, the leader of "Vazrazhdane" uses the situation to comment on the general state of the country. He defines the view from the train window as a symbol of “ruin, decline and slow, imperceptible rotting of all the tissues of statehood“. Kostadinov ends his statement with a political message to his voters, assuring them that his political formation will continue to fight for radical changes in government.
