In just one year, our economy has lost over 1 billion BGN due to the non-admission of our country to the overland Schengen.

"This is in a balanced scenario. But in reality, the figure can be drastically higher," Nikolay Rashkov from the expert group on transport in the European Commission told BNT.

In his words, losses are generated by waiting for the borders.

"All of us in Bulgaria pay the price of this 1 billion every time we enter the store, when we pay with between 15 and 18% more expensive goods,", he noted.

According to him, the moment we enter land-based Schengen, the prices we pay should be fair and equal to Western European prices.
