In two weeks, it will be one year since the death of 15-year-old Danaya, who died in the "Pirogov" hospital. In her memory, a rap song with hundreds of shares on social networks recalled the tragic case with the aim of encouraging people to join the "Donate for Life" subscription. She calls for urgent reforms in children's healthcare, writes NOVA.
The song is called "Anger". It is dedicated to Danaya, and the performer is Alex Melamed, marketing director in the first unicorn company in our country, valued at 1 billion dollars.
"Incompetence and mediocrity of our country. The boiling point of this anger was the Danaya incident and all subsequent incidents of Annie's struggle with our institutions. "I really wanted to support Danaya's cause and what better way than to pour it all out in the studio," says Melamed.
The song is about an angry walk in the center of Sofia, which starts from "Ivan Shishman" street. "The first incident of my walk in the song is when I saw some children, I don't know what age, teenagers, of which two or three boys were kicking another on the ground. Some laughed, others encouraged him. And the boy on the ground was telling them to stop, and something in his voice brought me back to my childhood and I said to myself: "We haven't moved at all all this time,", says the singer.
"20 meters later I reach the footpath that reminds me of Petar Todorov and I remember that name. Because my anger is both at institutions and at specific people who make our country what it is, woven of anger," he points out.
Corporate rapper Alex's song is a form of protest. But also a reminder. "I don't live under the illusion that tomorrow all these people who support this corrupt system will hear a rapper and say to themselves: "Well, how did we not realize that we are super unfortunate". I want other people who get angry just like that walking down their street and then go home and forget about their boiling point too. This is a problem for absolutely all of us," Melamed explains.
As angry citizens, let's demand the six immediate reforms in children's health care that the "Danaya for Life" initiative insists on. There are points for collecting signatures throughout the country.
"You can see briefly the six issues we propose and collect signatures. In a general sense, these are things that should have happened a long time ago, and in every country they are a fact. It's sad that it takes a citizen initiative to collect signatures for them to change. This is not a question of some general health reform, we do not claim such a thing", he says.
The signature will be submitted to the National Assembly on May 9, when it will be one year since the death of 15-year-old Danaya.
