Regardless of the fact that the statute gives me the right to run again for the chairman of the City Organization of the BSP in Sofia and I have a number of nominations for which I am deeply grateful, I I will not enter this race. Formally I have this right, but principles are more important. This was stated by Kaloyan Pargov in his speech to the delegates of the BSP City Conference – Sofia and urged “Keep the principles!“.
In his words, even without the unnecessary stressful situations two years ago, in 2024 his second full statutory term as chairman of the BSP City Council should have ended – Sofia.
„Good or bad – the party's constitution must be respected, he said.
Pargov expressed his conviction that two actually consecutive mandates of a leadership position in the BSP are sufficient. After them, the driver must cede the position to another to take the baton. And let him move on.
„Each of us must be responsible for the future of the BSP from our position and point of view – but not from his personal, but from the party“, pointed out Kaloyan Pargov and pointed out that in the BSP – Sofia did not accept this extraordinary cycle of elections, just a few months before the regular one in the entire party. They did not accept this controversial decision of the National Council, but it has become a fact.
Pargov thanked all regional organizations that realized that it is better to participate, so that they can defend their positions and their representatives in the bodies of the City Organization at all levels.
He believes that it depends on the delegates of the City Conference what future they will draw for the BSP – Sofia and this is a big responsibility.
„Our principles should not become lackeys of the posts”, the long-time chairman of the Sofia organization of the BSP was categorical.
Pargov recalled that in February 2022, a party punishment was imposed on him, with controversial arguments and legitimacy. The Supreme Court of Cassation ruled in his favor, but he also served the one-year term of the undeserved punishment stipulated by the BSP National Council.
„Here it is important to note that I suffered the punishment personally. I did not for a moment put the City Organization in a mode of choice, opposition, confrontation and unnecessary tension," he said and added: "On the contrary, I worked for unity and consolidation. And we achieved them“.
„The City Organization and its future was important to me. It is the same now”, said Kaloyan Pargov.
