Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev met with the relatives of the kidnapped Bulgarian sailors from the ship “Galaxy Leader” (Galaxy Leader).
We remind you that on Sunday, the relatives of the crew contacted bTV. They admitted they were concerned that the Foreign Office's work to repatriate the sailors was being delayed.
Dimitar Glavchev assured the sailors' relatives today that the institutions have not stopped looking for opportunities for their release.
„The case is not forgotten. Rest assured that we are actively working for the sailors to return home soon”, the press service of the Council of Ministers quoted the acting prime minister as saying.
The cargo ship “Galaxy Leader” partially owned by an Israeli businessman was kidnapped by the Yemeni Houthis in the Red Sea on November 18 last year. It is leased by a British company to a Japanese logistics firm.
Among the 25-member crew on board the ship, there are sailors of various nationalities – Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Filipinos and Mexicans, but not Israelis.
Back in January, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that our diplomats are helping relatives contact the sailors to make sure they are okay. At the moment, however, they still have no information about the two men abducted by the Houthis.
