Next week there will be clarity on two-in-one voting machines and software; – for the National Assembly and for the European Parliament. This was stated by the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Kamelia Neikova before the BNR.

She pointed out that the public procurement is at the final stage, and only "Siela Norma" submitted documents for participation.

Neikova stated that she has the assurance of the Ministry of Electronic Government, the standardization and metrology institutes that they are ready for the certification of the voting machines.

"There will be separate voter lists for both types of elections," the CEC chairman recalled.

"Paper ballots, when different types of elections are produced on the same day, have a different color of printing protection on the ballot. Even visually, the ballots will have a different color, which will not lead to confusion by the voters," Neikova explained.

She pointed out that even if a voter confuses the ballot box, the SEC members must then count their vote correctly for the respective type of election.

"The deadline for registration of candidate lists expires on May 7," Neikova recalled. "On Monday, it will become clear how many initiative committees are registered to participate in the elections,", she added.

Neikova explained that there is no restriction in the Electoral Code for someone to run for the European Parliament and for a national representative at the same time. She emphasized that if the same person is elected both as a member of the European Parliament and as a representative, he must announce his choice in which of the two he wishes to be elected.
