The methodology for checking the voting machines has been approved, BNR reported.

The inspection will be carried out by the Ministry of Electronic Government, the Bulgarian Institute for Standardization and the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology. The procedure is part of the electoral process.

There will be checks on the documents, software, hardware, evaluation of the functionality, whether the information is processed, stored, displayed securely.

They also cover the election process itself, such as whether it is possible for a voter to vote more than once, whether unauthorized access to the machine for other purposes is possible.

It will be checked whether the electromagnetic emissions will affect the data related to the voting process, the source code of the software, the possibility of revealing the vote.

The time for the procedure for all three institutions is 20 working days.

The serial numbers of seven voting machines were pulled for the random check about two weeks ago.

"The ultimate goal is to restore trust in the electoral process," said Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev at the time.
