„It was a mistake to send an inquiry to the National Assembly about who should represent Bulgaria at the NATO Summit. It has no powers in this area”.

This is what the former Deputy Minister of Defense Yordan Bozhilov told NOVA.

It will be attended by President Rumen Radev and Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.

The matter was submitted to the National Assembly for a decision by the acting Prime Minister. However, the topic did not enter the agenda of the parliament, but it nevertheless caused a controversy. Thus, the case returned to the official authority, which came up with a position. It says that the decisions to be made at the Washington meeting are related to long-term commitments to the defense investments of each NATO member country, as well as to long-term support for Ukraine.

„Each country is represented by only one person. It is a matter of internal decision who exactly he is, but we are notifying NATO and the Alliance knows that Bulgaria is being replaced by this person, explained the former deputy minister. He stressed that the IC has to make another important decision – which of the two statesmen will represent our country at the Meeting and which will only be part of the delegation.
