Bulgarians should not be worried by this minor incident. This is what the deputy executive director of the "Kozloduy" NPP told FOCUS. Andrey Krasnocharov on the occasion of the leakage of radioactive water from Unit VI of the Kozloduy NPP. earlier this week.

"Indeed a mistake was made in collecting a drainage scheme and this resulted in one part of the water overflowing outside ie. in the premises of the hermetic volume of the block. This is unpleasant as a case, but it does not lead to any dangers and consequences, since the very premises in which the equipment in question is located are designed for exactly this. That is, the leak was cleaned up afterwards and there was no additional exposure to the personnel, as the organization was conducted under strict control," he commented.

We remind you that the case gained high popularity after a comment by the nuclear energy expert Georgi Kaschiev, in which he said that "there is a fairly high probability that not all the damage can be cleaned up".

"It's impossible for me to clear everything. The next time the hermetic volume is opened, probably during the recharge in the fall, there will be traces of corrosion everywhere," said Georgi Kaschiev. "In the future, there will be cases of sudden shutdowns of sensors, cable breaks,", he added.

Andrei Krasnocharov was adamant that there were no consequences for the staff, the premises, or the environment.

"There is no reason to worry. Even this event is not subject to reporting to the NRA (Nuclear Regulatory Agency), but we still informed it that it happened and accordingly took the necessary measures to eliminate the consequences, said the deputy executive director of the Kozloduy NPP. .

"I assume that Mr. Kaschiev knows very well that nothing so dangerous happened. I repeat again - this case is not even subject to reporting, we have only informed the NRA that such an event really took place", Krasnocharov also said.

"The flooding occurred in a specific area of the equipment, which was immediately cleaned. Corresponding checks have also been carried out. There are no sensors there, but if he refers to the upper unit - they were only on the cover and I say again - they were cleaned", explained the deputy head of the Kozloduy NPP.

"In no case should the Bulgarians worry about this minor incident, the staff continues to work in the same premises. There are no dangers", Andrey Krasnocharov categorically stressed.
