The first day center for persons with severe disabilities in Sofia has opened its doors

It has 30 places and modern equipment

The newly opened center, located in the "Slatina" area, has 30 places and is equipped according to all modern standards for the provision of quality social services, BNR reported.

It is spread over three floors and furnished to provide a safe and stimulating environment for its visitors. The center offers not only day care, but also the possibility of temporary accommodation when it becomes necessary due to treatment or other needs of relatives.

"With the efforts of many colleagues and after hard work, we managed to turn this place into a reality that will improve the lives of many families," commented Bacheva. She also shared that it was precisely because of the hard work that the Center started working, because two years ago, due to a delay in the implementation of the project, 1.2 million euros of European funding were lost.

The Center will be staffed by qualified professionals, including nurses, social workers and therapists, who will offer individualized programs adapted to the needs and capabilities of each visitor. All this is possible thanks to the funding provided by the Metropolitan Municipality and the state.

Bacheva also pointed out that the Metropolitan Municipality is working towards better infrastructure for people with disabilities, with the goal being to make subways and sidewalks in the capital also accessible to people with disabilities. "I hope that by the end of the mandate, Sofia will become accessible to people with disabilities,", she added.

"This is a step forward towards a more accessible Sofia, where everyone has the right to dignity and a quality life," said the mayor of the "Slatina" region. Georgi Iliev, who also attended the opening.

With the opening of this Center, the Metropolitan Municipality underlines its commitment to the improvement of social infrastructure and support for people with disabilities, with the hope that Sofia will soon become fully accessible to all its residents.
