Elena Darieva: GERB's approach doomed the first mandate

The signals about whether Borisov's party really wanted to form a government are contradictory, the sociologist believes

If there was any possibility in the 50th National Assembly, then the greatest chances that's what he had with the first mandate. However, the way in which the first political force GERB-SDS approached with the announcement of a draft cabinet at the very moment in which they took the folder with the mandate, seems to be blocking the next opportunity for negotiations to take place and to form a majority around priorities.

This is what sociologist Elena Darieva said on Euronews PrimeTime.

The approach taken by Boyko Borisov's formation doomed this first mandate to failure in advance. The signals about whether GERB-SDS really wanted to form a government are contradictory. On the one hand, the election of Rosen Zhelyazkov as Prime Minister – a consensus figure that was well received by the rest of the political subjects.

„The other signal we saw was aimed at GERB voters – it was a party cabinet with very bright and prominent political figures”, Elena Darieva also noted.
