"Until yesterday, I tried to avoid the word "split" ; in DPS, but today I can already say that there is a split in the parliamentary group. These processes in the PG will have an impact on the party," journalist Valeriya Veleva told NOVA.
Her motive for believing this is the letter from the MPs supporting Dogan, sent before the DPS PG meeting.
"There is one sentence that is important and to me it says that the split is already a fact. It says that the current leadership is not legitimate, it was not elected according to the statute, and it should not make decisions and participate in the meetings of the group until the position of the honorary chairman of the DPS is pronounced, Veleva quotes.
"On February 24th this leadership was elected, how did they only now know that this leadership is illegitimate?" she asked.
"Inside, for a long time, I had the feeling that this unity of the DPS, this monolithicity, had stepped on rather "thin legs". It is a dual party. On the one hand, it is an ethnic party. On the other hand, it is a heavily economized party. Now these two sides are beginning to emerge and become different entities. There is another concern – split along the lines of Euro-Atlanticism – pro-Putinism. We know who is Euro-Atlantic – the one who hinted several times that the split could take place on this basis", commented Lozanov.
"Peevski brought DPS to the second political force. This had never happened before. He has a reason not to lower his head", commented Valeriya Veleva. "Every leader is judged by results. See the results in BSP, in PP. This is the basis for evaluating a leader. To cause such a spectacular rift in DPS – why is it right now when we are facing an election? This will result in two parties. We are now receiving official emails from DPS17. So they have already defined themselves as DPS17. What will be the result of all this?", commented Veleva.
" Dogan called the Peevski phenomenon. Let's see what this phenomenon consists of. It consists in the fact that it manages to generate more power than its actual public place. He was on the verge of generating enough power to start running the country if that government had taken place. I think that the power should enter its institutional forms", comments Lozanov.
According to him, the end of the leadership parties is coming.
"The leaders have bogged down the work so much that experts will have to come in," commented Lozanov.
