"Enterprises will stop working at these electricity prices. This will happen in August. "Energy-intensive factories cannot produce products that are competitive in the market."

This was stated by the chairman of AIKB Vasil Velev to NOVA NEWS.

He explained that there is no tripartite dialogue between employers, unions and government. “Our invitations for meetings and discussion of important topics with the ministers are ignored by them. One of the topics is the price of electricity”, he gave an example.

„On Thursday, the price of electricity will be three times higher than in Western Europe - 467 BGN per megawatt hour. The price at which NEK provides electricity to electricity distribution companies is BGN 128. Let's compare 128 with 467 BGN”, urged Velev and added that we have capacities that would be profitable now and are not loaded. “We have an established compensatory mechanism, but it has not started”, explained the representative of the employers.

How can a business be competitive if its raw material is three times more expensive than that of its competitors in Western Europe, he asked. The Bulgarian industry has been in decline for 17 months, said the chairman of AIKB.
