Most affected by the water crisis near the sea Avren, Benkovski, Zdravets, Sadovo and Priseltsi

There was another protest against the passage of heavy trucks through the Petrokhan pass in Stara Planina from 20:00 last night on the road in the village of Burziya, Berkovitsa municipality, BTA reported.

About 50 people gathered at the protest, organized by civil associations and political formations, mostly from Berkovitsa and Burzia. Among them were the MPs from the party “Revival“ from the regions of Montana and Vidin Petar Petrov and Vera Alexandrova.

Protesters said that for nearly a month, the road is already in waves after the passage of tires through Petrokhan. Residents of the village of Barziya said that their houses also began to crack when trucks weighing about 40 tons passed by. Deputy Petar Petrov stated that what is happening is a new episode of the "state against the people" saga. and asked how much human life is worth to the rulers and can it be measured in liters of fuel and kilometers that the carriers will save by taking the shorter route through the Petrokhan Pass. He demanded that the state intervene to stop the passage of trucks through Petrokhan.

Protests against the passage of shooting ranges through Petrokhan began on June 14 with the blocking of the road for half an hour. Then there were four more protests in the same vein. The protesters point out that the road through the Petrokhan Pass is not designed for heavy trucks, that it is narrow, with many turns and with a large gradient, and this forces the tires to enter the oncoming traffic lane at the turns, creating a danger for cars. They are demanding the cancellation of the API order allowing the trucks to pass through Petrokhan.

Official Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova met with the protesters at one of the protests - on June 25, and stated that the release of heavy-duty trucks through Petrokhan is necessary due to the closure of a section of the road Sofia - Vratsa - Vidin near the village Lutidol in the municipality of Mezdra for the repair and construction of an expressway there. She asked for understanding and patience, because according to her, the construction of this road will give a boost to the economy of the entire northwestern Bulgaria. Koritarova pointed out that the passage of tires through Petrokhan is prohibited on weekends and during peak hours on weekdays.

Until today, the positions of the protestors and the MRRD remain opposite, and that is why the protests continue.

The Municipal Council in Berkovitsa and the Regional Administration in Montana under the former regional governor Ivaylo Antonov expressed opinions against the passage of trucks through Petrohan, and the Chamber of Carriers in Bulgaria announced their support for this decision.

Protest due to lack of water in Varna villages. Residents of the municipality of Avren, Varna gathered in the village of Priseltsi to express their dissatisfaction with the water regime in the area, FOCUS reported. Adequate measures to solve the problem are lacking, the protesters are adamant and insist on a dialogue with the local authority and the waterworks the company.

Most affected by the water crisis are the villages of Avren, Benkovski, Zdravets, Sadovo and Priseltsi, reports BNT. And this, according to people, is happening against the background of record high temperatures and danger of fires throughout the country.

According to people, during the summer season, it is usual for the water to have less pressure, but in the last week the situation has become critical.

The Mayor of Avren Municipality Emanuil Manolov stated that everything possible is being done to ensure normal water supply for the population. Projects have already been drawn up, including for the construction of a water pipeline between the villages of Priseltsi and Bliznatsi, but funding is also needed. That is why he is organizing an open meeting tomorrow, which will also be attended by a representative of Varna Waterworks.
