Isolated explosions can be heard near Elin Pelin station this morning, more than a day after the fire in the fireworks warehouses.
Rounds from pyrotechnics can be heard, and with a rather increased intensity compared to the previous days. They look like pirates. The reason why these rumblings occur is unclear.
The declared state of emergency in the city of Elin Pelin and the villages of Novi Khan and station Elin Pelin will remain in force until the entry of firefighters, which will be 24 hours after the last explosion.
On Friday, Brigadier General Stanimir Yordanov said that at the moment it is not appropriate to extinguish the fire near Elin Pelin with helicopters with water from the air because of the substances that, in contact with the water, can cause unpleasant consequences. When necessary, the helicopters are ready to fire again from the air. Yesterday, the military was dousing the area around the remaining unaffected warehouse to keep it isolated from the fire and subsequent problems.
Investigators will work on all versions. Among them - and those for human error or technical problem. If the situation permits, today it is expected that an inspection with specialized military equipment will be carried out in the area of the fire. Such attempts were made in the previous days, but due to the situation, they were unable to reach the places to be checked.
The road between the town of Elin Pelin and the village of Gara Elin Pelin will remain closed today. There are bypass routes through the village of Lesnovo.
