There is only one day left until the deadline by which Bulgaria must send two proposals to Brussels for its representative in the European Commission. The six parliamentary parties presented not six but seven proposals, NOVA reported.
Also on Tuesday, Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev met with the first nominees - Ekaterina Zaharieva from GERB-SDS, Velislava Petrova from ITN and Iskra Mihailova from DPS, whose nomination turned out to be controversial within the ranks of the party itself.
Yesterday, the proposals of the other parties also arrived. PP-DB broadcast the former eco-minister Julian Popov, “Vazrazhdane” named the economist Viktor Papazov, and the Executive Bureau of the BSP came up with two names – Dragomir Stoynev and MEP Tsvetelina Penkova.
The Acting Prime Minister is to talk to each of them, so that he sends two names to Brussels on Friday at the latest – to a man and to a woman. Thus, on September 11 or 12, Ursula von der Leyen is expected to announce who will be the new members of the European Commission.
