Elena Darieva: The decision of the CEC for DPS was not a Solomonic decision, but rather an escape from responsibility

The CEC does not fulfill its functions. This is an independent body which, according to the law and the rules, should have clear criteria for who can be registered and who cannot be registered, commented political scientist Ivo Indjov

First meeting of deputies after the summer vacation. They will work for about a month as they prepare for the next election. "Yes, Bulgaria" came out with a position last night in which they stated that they will remain in coalition with "We Continue the Change".

"The decision of the DB was awaited, because the question of whether this coalition would also be able to maintain its unity, which is important, considering the short time left until the elections, is extremely important. Perhaps for the satisfaction of their voters, they decided to stay away from these disintegration processes that we observe in all the other systemic parties", commented sociologist Elena Darieva in the studio of "Bulgaria Morning".

She noted that the loss of around 300,000 votes was particularly painful for the coalition. In this context, the DB is trying to change its approach, placing a stronger emphasis on conviction and a clear presentation of its priorities, in order to restore the confidence of voters.
Political scientist Ivo Injov emphasized the importance of party quotas and coordination between the various parties in the coalition.

"The requests made by DB are reasonable. We saw that these 300,000 people who lost the coalition are largely the electorate of "We continue the change". DB and DSB are placed in a situation where they have a much larger solid electorate - the classic urban right, but they have much less political weight in the coalition itself," Indjov told Bulgaria ON AIR.

However, he stressed that the future of this coalition is difficult to predict, and that it is important that the three parties in it have a clear and coordinated strategy.
Indjov and Darieva criticized the approach of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to the registration of DPS.

"CEC does not perform its functions. It is an independent body which should, according to the law and rules, have clear criteria of who can be registered and who cannot be registered. In this case, the CEC is looking for some Solomonic solution and escape from responsibility. In addition to the created situation, we will most likely see two registrations in the form of coalitions. Both camps will participate with the help of other parties", Indjov was categorical.

"This was not a Solomonic decision, rather it was an escape from responsibility. The CEC only increased the tension with its unprecedented decision not to give an entry number, but to enter in the register, accepting the registration documents of both wings. Such tension does not contribute to increasing confidence in the electoral process", Darieva stressed.
