During the first day of his visit to New York Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov met at the UN with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Palestine Mohammad Mustafa. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by BTA.
Ivan Kondov assured his interlocutor that the Bulgarian side is following with deep concern the development of the situation in the Middle East and will continue to work in the direction of supporting the efforts of the international community to de-escalate the conflict between Israel and "Hamas", cease fire and release the hostages still held in Gaza, and to establish a lasting and just peace in the region.
At the end of the first day of his visit to New York, together with Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Kondov was the guest of honor at the Independence Day celebration organized by the Consulate General in New York for the Bulgarian community.
Leaders from more than 130 countries will meet tomorrow at UN headquarters in New York to participate in the General Policy Debates during the 79th annual session of the UN General Assembly.
The general debates, part of the High Level Week, take place from 24 to 30 September and will bring together heads of state and government from around the world. The Bulgarian delegation will be led by President Rumen Radev.
This year's theme for the debates is "Ignoring No One: Acting Together to Promote Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for Current and Future Generations". Debaters usually talk about it before they start talking about their chosen issues.
