BNB reports, that in the second quarter of the year, the number of reports of fake 100 BGN banknotes increased, BNT reported.
The central bank specifies that a copier and accompanying means for counterfeiting banknotes were seized during a police operation. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated on the case.
"They are printed double-sided on a color copier on white pulp paper with poor image quality. On the left side of the fake notes, a hologram film designed for another product is stuck, which lacks the hologram effects of the real notes. With this type of fake banknote, there is no imitation of other security features. They can be easily recognized by checking the security features published on the BNB website in the "Banknotes" section.
Given their method of production, the materials used and the lack of imitation of more than one protection, BNB specialists consider that this type of non-genuine BGN 100 banknotes, 2018 issue, do not pose a threat to cash circulation, the bank also commented .
