Zhelyazkov met with the Vice President of the World Bank

“Restoring stability and sustainability of public finances and combating the shadow economy are among the main tasks facing the government“. This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov at a meeting with the Vice President for Europe and Central Asia of the World Bank Antonella Bassani. The Prime Minister defined the stability of public finances as a key element on our country's path to membership in the eurozone. Rosen Zhelyazkov was categorical that the main goal is for Bulgaria to have a predictable economic environment, which is a prerequisite for increasing economic growth. The Bulgarian Prime Minister pointed out that our country has met all the criteria for membership in the eurozone and expects the preparation of extraordinary convergence reports by the European Commission and the European Central Bank.

“In this dynamic environment, we highly value the dialogue and cooperation between the World Bank and Bulgaria, related to the approved Country Partnership Framework for the period 2025 - 2029 financial years. We welcome the Bank's interest in remaining engaged in its efforts to develop our cooperation“, noted Rosen Zhelyazkov during the meeting. The Prime Minister emphasized that the government views the Partnership Framework as a solid foundation for productive cooperation between the World Bank Group and Bulgaria in the coming years.

The meeting assessed Sofia's role as host of the World Bank Shared Services Center, which plays an important role in the effective administration of the Bank's operations in various countries and has a positive impact on the economic environment in Bulgaria.
