A 24-year-old man from Stara Zagora has been given a suspended sentence for transporting 14 illegal migrants. The case was concluded in just four days after the District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against him. This was announced by the state prosecution.
On April 28, 2025, in the area of the “Trakia“ highway, near Stara Zagora, the accused N.K. was caught with a truck carrying 10 Afghan and 4 Moroccan citizens.
The investigation shows that he accepted an offer from an acquaintance to provide the transport for a fee, as he had financial difficulties, bTV recalled.
The migrants illegally crossed the border with Turkey, accompanied by a trafficker. After days of walking, they met with N.K. in Burgas, from where he put them in the car and drove to Serbia.
The man pleaded guilty and reached an agreement with the prosecutor's office.
The Stara Zagora District Court imposed an 11-month suspended sentence with a 3-year probationary period and a fine of 5,000 leva.
