"Everyone should have the right to protest. But parties like “Vazrazhdane” and other pro-Russian parties are using the fears of people who do not understand what the advantages of the eurozone are.”. This was commented on the program “Na fokus” by the co-chairman of “Da, Bulgarija” Ivaylo Mirchev.
“Unfortunately, the president also joined this group, because he spoke about a risk to people's savings. He has advisors, they must have explained to him that there is no risk to savings. The president should be literate on this topic. But when he comes out and says that there is a risk to savings, it is normal for people to worry”, commented Mirchev.
„With respect to these people, I did not understand what their goal was. The protest was under the slogan – a battle for the Bulgarian lev. I do not understand how a battle for the Bulgarian lev is being waged with Russian flags, which were as many as Bulgarian ones”, continued Mirchev.
According to him, there were 2,000-3,000 people at the protests.
„I have no objection to people expressing their opinion, to protesting. But we must turn to the West, to the EU, the eurozone, Schengen. I do not see what to look for in Russia, which cannot protect its military airfields. "In the last few hours, 40 strategic bombers have been destroyed," said Ivaylo Mirchev.
"I regret that there are political groups and politicians who trade on people's fears in this way. But everyone should be calm. In every country that has entered the eurozone, there have been similar fears and there have been similar politicians, about whom the least that can be said is that they are incorrect towards society, who have used people's fears and after entering the eurozone, support for the euro doubles and triples. The eurozone has not failed anywhere," said Mirchev.
He believes that no campaign has been conducted for the introduction of the euro. He explained that from "Yes, Bulgaria" have launched an awareness campaign on their website, and starting next week their local organizations will be out among the people.
Asked if the coalition already has a candidate to be nominated for president, Mirchev said that they have a very clear plan for a very strong candidate of the democratic community. Mirchev explained that it will be a candidate supported by the PP.
„I don't imagine that the PP is outside the democratic community at the moment”, said Mirchev.
„The presidential candidate has no other option than to be not just a candidate of „Yes, Bulgaria”, of the DSB and the PP, but of the entire democratic community. There are many people here - you can dig them up with a shovel. The point is to gain the trust of so many people so that we can have a candidate who will be in the runoff”, said Mirchev.
