Trifonov: Today in the EP, North Macedonia's claims for some "Macedonian identity and language" were deleted

Today, Bulgaria achieved something it has rarely done - defended its national interest.

Today in the European Parliament, North Macedonia's claims for some "Macedonian identity" and some "Macedonian language" were deleted - I repeat, deleted - from the report on the progress of this country on its path to the European Union. This happened, firstly - because of the clear position of "There Is Such a People", as we proposed a resolution to the National Assembly for a firm position of Bulgaria regarding the unfounded claims of North Macedonia - a decision that was supported by all political forces.

This was written on "Facebook" by the leader of ITN Slavi Trifonov.

Secondly – this happened because of the organized and consistent, round-the-clock activity of the Bulgarian MEPs, who did something worthy of respect. They changed the opinion of the MEPs and made them see and understand the Bulgarian position. And more importantly – to support it unconditionally.

Thirdly – all that we had to watch and stop was the result of the incompetent and harmful foreign policy of “We Continue the Change“, headed by a former Prime Minister, and recently – a former Member of Parliament. The then dual foreign policy of Kiril Petkov created the prerequisites for the rulers in North Macedonia that – since Bulgaria is clearly weak – they might succeed.

Yes, but no!

We reacted back then, when we overthrew that government. We reacted now, by defending our national interest. From now on, we will continue to react in exactly the same way – every time the Bulgarian interest and the rights of Bulgarians in the so-called state of “Northern Macedonia“ are violated!
