How and what to engage our children in during the summer, especially if they are teenagers? Is there a way for them to both learn responsibility, learn new skills, and earn their own money. In Ruse, they seem to have found the formula, writes Nova TV.
This year, the scope of the MLSP program has been expanded, the possibility of including young people from 16 to 29 years old, who are looking for a job, including students, for example during vacation, has been regulated. And instead of working sometimes without an employment contract in establishments, teenagers receive regulated working hours, a minimum wage, breaks, and a mentor to help them acquire skills. The funding for these expenses is provided by the youth employment program.
Valentina Ivanova is 17 years old, she studies at the Music School and has chosen to work in a sewing company for the summer vacation.
"I help as a general worker, we stretch fabrics. I'm trying to study because it can help me in the future," she explains.
She found out about the program from friends. She says that money is not the main factor, but she still decided what she would buy with it. She is graduating this year, so she decided that she could save it for her prom.
Kain and Svetoslav are both 16 years old and are no longer just friends and classmates from the woodworking high school, but also colleagues. The mother of one of them suggested that they work during the summer. They are assigned to a clothing packaging workshop.
"It helps to be disciplined to get used to the work, because later you will definitely need it, and most of all to redistribute your time, to get up and go to bed on time, because before that I didn't do it", shares Kain Andreev.
Svetoslav Kolev says that they are saving up to go on vacation together on the Black Sea coast.
The owner of a sewing company, Miglena Hristova, admits that the children are dedicated and want to learn.
As an employer, Miglena Hristova says that the youth employment program is of great benefit to everyone - it gives young people a chance to acquire their first work skills, which I hope will be useful to them later in life.
The procedure for hiring minors is carried out through the Labor Bureau. Employers list open positions, and candidates must declare their desire to work. In order to be referred to a specific company, young people must receive a document from an occupational health service, a letter of consent from their parents, then the Labor Inspectorate checks the documents and issues a permit, with which they apply for work with the help of labor intermediaries from the labor office.
"A minimum wage is paid and 50% to their mentor who will train them, this is very useful for companies. The law says that children who are 16 years old have the right to work 7 hours, and we count them as an eight-hour workday," Miglena specifies.
Young people also have breaks like everyone else, and according to employees, they also have a very positive influence and raise the morale of the team.
