Kaloyan Pargov on the delegation in Beijing: Zafirov did not sit at the same table with Putin

According to him, our geopolitical position does not include confrontation with China

After the visit of the Bulgarian delegation to China, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov, Minister Ivan Ivanov and deputy ministers, the topic was commented on the air of “Crossroads” Kaloyan Pargov - Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, who was also in Beijing.

“This invitation is from the beginning of the year. The Chinese Ambassador Ms. Dai Qinli had specified two things at a meeting with Mr. Zafirov - one of them was his state visit in May. Then, as Deputy Prime Minister, he led a delegation to China, which was the first state visit in the last few years”, explained Pargov.

“The second was the BSP party visit in September on the occasion of the end of World War II and China's victory over Japan. That was the occasion, and all the meetings were only party-related,” he commented.

According to him, Zafirov did not sit at the same table with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “There was an official lunch on the occasion of the holiday, and the heads of the delegations were sitting at this table. Zafirov was in the company of South Korea and Egypt in the nearby area. All the leaders were at the table - President Xi, President Putin, Kim Jong-un, Vucic and others. Bulgaria was represented at the level of deputy prime minister. Our country was not at the level of president or prime minister like the others. The Hungarians were at a lower level than us - they were represented by a foreign minister,” Pargov added.

He explained that Zafirov was introduced in his capacity as chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party - a party with which the Chinese Communist Party has had relations for 76 years.

Pargov commented that Bulgaria's geopolitical position does not include confrontation with China and showed a photo of Costa and Von der Leyen on a visit to China.

“In the context of 80 years since the end of World War II, we cannot be divided. The world must be united, condemning and remembering this bloodiest war to date. Now the rattling of weapons is reminiscent of the rattling of weapons in the period before World War II. Increasing production, capacities, and power - that's how the war started then," he added.

“I don't think that party visits are subject to coordination. Just like GERB or ITN do not owe the BSP an explanation for their party visits. Party affairs are party affairs”, concluded Pargov.

He asked why the PP-DB had requested Zafirov's resignation. “I didn't understand the reasoning. In order to request someone's resignation, he must have done something that has generally confused some policy or caused some grandiose problem in the state”.

According to him, the topic of Zafirov's resignation was not discussed. “He himself stated that he would not submit it”, explained Pargov.
