Vanya Grigorova: The state should take responsibility for maintaining public transport in all cities

"President Radev, if he wants to do a political project, he should be active on various topics. There is no point in doing a project that is empty of ideas. He should be passionate about achieving some goals," commented the independent municipal councilor

Independent municipal councilor in Sofia Municipality Vanya Grigorova told Bulgaria ON AIR that there should be conditions so that public transport workers and drivers do not have to get out of the vehicles.

It is impossible for them to drive without drinking anything and without eating, she emphasized.

"A considerable part of the railway in Sofia needs replacement. Over 400 million leva are needed for just a few sections. In most cases, a salary update is chosen. We are doing what urgently needs to be done, we are always postponing expenses that are swelling and becoming more and more problematic," Grigorova explained in "Denyat ON AIR."

Who should pay the huge sums for public transport

The municipal councilor from the SOS pointed out that the municipality does not have enough funds for capital expenditures.

"It is high time for the state to take responsibility for maintaining public transport in all cities. To pay 50% of the costs, as much as the municipality pays. It is right for us municipal councilors to address the Minister of Finance. It is not normal for the state to pay less than the municipality. I did not meet with understanding from the chairman of the commission, Mr. Takov. The mayor and the deputy mayor for finance should lead these conversations," Grigorova believes.

Signatures are being collected against the pension reform

"The retirement age is planned to be 65 years old. A set of measures that are being discussed. The deficit in the NSSI budget is 12 billion leva. This is a lot of money. Instead of burdening workers and pensioners, it is right to make private funds not mandatory and to eliminate the maximum social security income," the guest also said.

"I appeal to all parties for support. If they support this direction - not to invest the funds risky, to join. The maximum social security income stimulates the gray economy. The insurance ceiling must be abolished," insisted Grigorova.

President Radev must be active on various topics

The municipal councilor commented on the increasingly strong rumors that President Rumen Radev will announce the start of his political project.

"President Radev, if he wants to do a political project, he must be active on various topics. There is no point in doing a project that is empty in terms of ideas. He must be passionate about achieving some goals. How much greater a goal than the future of workers and pensioners; that Bulgaria does not go into debt; that private pension funds do not gamble our insurance contributions...", Grigorova pointed out.
