Temporary consensus in resolving international crises does not allow for a comprehensive settlement; the root causes of the conflict must be addressed. This opinion was expressed by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

“The world is facing an unprecedented escalation of crises, caused not by a lack of resources or knowledge, but rather by impunity and the lack of just solutions to conflicts“, he said at the opening of the forum in Doha. "A series of flashpoints have shown that minimal crisis management or maintaining a temporary international consensus without addressing the root causes of the conflict is no longer a viable solution," he stressed, noting that without achieving a just settlement, crises "recur, become more complex and spread into the future." In this regard, the head of the Qatari government recalled the conflicts in Syria, Sudan and the Gaza Strip. “The challenges facing our region are also related to the declining respect for international law in the world, the excessive and irresponsible use of force and the weakening role of international institutions,” he added, calling for the formation of a more just system of international relations.

The 23rd Doha Forum on the theme “Justice in Action: From Promises to Progress“. The forum is being held on December 6 and 7 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Doha. Participants will discuss a wide range of issues related to politics, security and economics.
