A local ceasefire regime came into force from 07:00 Moscow time this morning in the area of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, the Director General of the Rosatom Corporation Alexei Likhachev told journalists, quoted by TASS, BTA reported.

According to Likhachev, the local ceasefire will allow repair teams, including specialists from Rosatom, to repair power lines to the plant, damaged in shelling on February 10, for which he blamed the Ukrainian army.

The head of "Rosatom" specified that the reconstruction work would last no less than a week.

Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced that its Executive Board had approved a four-year loan of $8.1 billion for Ukraine, specifying that $1.5 billion would be disbursed immediately, Reuters reported.

The IMF added that the new agreement under the Extended Fund Facility is part of a $136.5 billion international aid package for Ukraine, which this week marked 4 years since the Russian invasion.

“Ukraine and its people have been enduring a long and devastating war for more than four years with remarkable resilience. "Through skillful policies, supported by the 2023 Extended Fund Facility, and with the exceptional financial support of international partners, the authorities have maintained overall macroeconomic and financial stability, made progress in domestic revenues, and initiated some key reforms," IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said at the end of the Executive Board meeting, as quoted by the organization's official website.

During her visit to Kiev in the middle of last month, she said she would ask the IMF Executive Board to approve a new $8.1 billion credit program for Ukraine, stressing the importance of ensuring stable financing for the country.
