Over 2,000 people have been detained in the US in the past 3 weeks during pro-Palestinian protests taking place at American universities. This data is provided by the television company NBC.

According to its data, as of April 17, the American police detained at least 2,100 people throughout the country. About 100 people were detained on the campuses of eight universities, including Emerson College and Northeastern University in Boston, as well as Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Texas.

The wave of arrests on American campuses began on April 18, when Columbia University Chancellor Minush Shafiq asked New York City police to help evict protesters from the university. The decision led to the arrest of more than 100 people at the Manhattan campus and sparked new waves of protests across the country. The protesters are demanding a halt to financial aid and arms supplies to Israel, which is conducting a military operation in the Gaza Strip. In recent days, police units have been deployed in a number of American cities to push demonstrators out of tent camps and occupied buildings on the grounds of educational institutions.
