The ambassador of Greece to the Republic of North Macedonia Sofia Filipidou has left the hall of parliament in Skopje, after the newly elected president Gordana Siljanovska called the country "Macedonia" and not by its constitutional name, BTA reported.

The incident was reported for the first time by the MP from VMRO-DPMNE and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Miloshoski in his profile on the X platform, and the edition "360 degrees" writes that it has also received confirmation of this from the Greek embassy in the country. “Following instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Ambassador Sofia Philippidou left the hall”, the Greek embassy told the publication.

Filipidou, along with the other ambassadors accredited to the country, was invited to the ceremony.

In the election campaign, Siljanovska claimed that she would not use the country's constitutional name "Republic of North Macedonia", which was agreed with Greece in 2018 to start the process of Skopje joining NATO. In recent days, the media in Greece wrote that the country will carefully monitor Siljanovska's words during her inauguration.
