In Great Britain, tens of thousands of letters signed by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be sent this week to voters urging them to vote for the Conservative Party, BNR reported, citing the "Daily Telegraph".
The aim is to "prevent Labor from coming to power and avoid the threat posed by Nigel Farage's Reform UK party.
More and more influential Tories are calling on the former prime minister to start playing a more active role in the election campaign, especially after Nigel Farage became leader of the “Reform UK” and opinion polls predict that “reformers” can take away many votes for the Conservatives. “Daily Telegraph“ has now announced that thousands of letters signed by Boris Johnson will warn voters that a vote to “Reform the UK” will put Labor in power for a generation. This Tory postal campaign is effectively Boris Johnson's first direct intervention in an attempt to get the Conservatives re-elected, however unlikely it may seem at this stage.
The paper says the letters will be sent mainly to wavering Tory supporters who supported the party when Johnson was leader but are now being tempted to vote for the “reformers”. “Daily Telegraph“ however, notes that it remains unclear how much Boris Johnson is willing to back Rishi Sunak, who many of the former prime minister's allies still blame for his removal from Downing Street.
