Kamala Harris gave her first major TV interview since the presidential nomination at a restaurant VIDEO

most importantly, my values have not changed, the Democratic candidate said

US Vice President Kamala Harris gave his first major television interview since accepting the Democratic nomination for the presidential nomination in November. In an interview with CNN alongside vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz, Kamala Harris defended backing away from some of her more liberal positions, insisting that “her values have not changed” even as she “seeks consensus” , informed the Associated Press, quoted by BTA.

Sitting alongside vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, who is governor of Minnesota, Harris was asked about her policy changes over the years, specifically her concessions on hydraulic fracking and decriminalization of illegal border crossings.

„I think the most important and most significant aspect of my political perspective and decisions is that my values have not changed,” Harris replied.

The interview with CNN's Dana Bash gave Harris an opportunity to try to quell criticism that she is avoiding an uncontrolled environment, while also giving her a chance to define her campaign and test her political credentials ahead of an upcoming debate with former President Donald Trump, scheduled for September 10, AP commented.

„First of all, one of my top priorities is to do everything we can to strengthen and support the middle class,” Kamala Harris said in the interview. “When I look at the aspirations, goals and ambitions of the American people, I think the people are ready for a new way forward,”, she added.

The CNN interview was taped at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at a restaurant in Savannah, Georgia, and aired Thursday night.
