The number of victims of typhoon "Yagi", which caused floods and landslides in Vietnam - mostly in its northern part, reached 197, reported AFP, quoted by BTA, referring to today's statement of the country's government.
128 people are missing, the agency adds. 250,000 hectares of agricultural land have been destroyed, according to an official report by Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture.
Several neighborhoods of the capital Hanoi are flooded, Reuters reported. About 800 people were injured by the floods and landslides.
According to meteorologists "Yagi" is the most powerful typhoon to hit North Vietnam in 30 years, AFP notes.
