Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit North Korea between July 11-13, Reuters reported, citing North Korea's KCNA news agency, BTA reports.

The visit comes amid increased diplomatic contacts between the two countries, especially after the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty in 2023 by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

In June, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu held talks with the North Korean leadership on implementing the agreements reached under the agreement. This was his third visit to Pyongyang in less than three months, Reuters notes.

Relations between Moscow and Pyongyang are developing intensively, with the emphasis on security and military coordination. According to Western sources, North Korea is providing military support to Russia in the war against Ukraine, which further increases international attention to the developing partnership between the two countries.
